Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an installation disk, or do I need to download any software in order for my NC-125VM USB to work?
No software is required. Simply plug in the headset, and set it as the default audio device on your Mac or PC.
Do I need AudioCommander in order for to use my headset with Dragon Naturally Speaking?
NO! In fact it is important that you do not turn on any additional microphone filters within AudioCommander if you are using Dragon. The additional filters will hamper Dragons ability to properly set the microphones audio levels and hinder your voice recognition score within Dragon. The AudioCommander filters are intended for VoIP, long distance learning and on line gaming where background noise can affect how you are being heard.
How do I request a warranty repair?
If your device is still not functioning after contacting the Andrea Support Team, you will be asked to submit your proof of purchase via email or fax, verifying that the product was purchased within 1 year. You will then be issued a return material authorization (RMA) number, with complete shipping instructions to return the device to our facility for evaluation. The customer is responsible for the return shipping. A traceable method such as UPS or Fed-X ground is recommended. If the device is found to be defective after evaluation at our facility, a new device will be shipped to you free of charge.
Is the NC-125VM USB compatible with Linux?
Yes, the NC-125VM USB headset will work on Linux.
When using my NC-125VM USB with Dragon Naturally Speaking, what are Andrea Communications’ suggested settings?
If you are using the NC-125VM USB with our partner Andrea Electronics AudioCommander software, it is not necessary to run the filters with speech recognition software such as Dragon. Since the NC-125VM USB microphone has built-in noise cancellation, additional filters are not necessary. The filters are better suited for use with applications such as Skype or Pal-Talk.
Is the NC-125VM USB compatible with Windows 10?

This can be done by performing the following steps:

- In the option panel, select “Chat settings”.

What is the difference between the NC-125, NC-125VM and NC-125VM USB?
VM stands for Volume/Mute, as the headset has an in-line volume control for the headset speakers, and a mute switch for the microphone. VM USB indicates that the Andrea USB-SA External Digital Sound Card is in-line, or built into the cable, as well as a digital in-line Volume/Mute control. Most voice recognition programs recommend using a USB sound card for increased performance.
My Windows computer doesn’t see my device as a speaker, but does list the microphone.
First, try unplugging and reconnecting the headset to see if it shows up. If not, it may be disabled or hidden. In the playback tab of the Sound control panel, right click in the open area below any listings such as your sound card, and choose ‘Show Disabled Devices’ and/or ‘Show Disconnected Devices’. It should NOT be disabled or disconnected.
I am unable to hear audio from my headset microphone even though AudioCommander software shows that audio is playing.
