Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I use a headset made by another manufacturer with my USB-C Audio Adapter?

    Yes.

  • Do you have a Stereo microphone input USB sound card?

While the USB-C AUDIO ADAPTER only has a Mono 3.5 microphone input and stereo speaker/headphone output, the Andrea USB-SA, USB-MA, EDU-USB and USB-UNIV do offer a stereo microphone 3.5mm input as well as a 3.5mm stereo speaker/headphone output.

  • I have my USB-C Audio Adapter attached to a USB hub and when I use the headphones, I hear noise like static in the background.

It is recommended that you plug your USB-C Audio Adapter directly into one of your computer’s USB ports as electronic noise from the other devices will cause static.

  • Can I use 2 headsets at the same time?

Yes, you can plug both a computer headset with pink and green plugs into the corresponding color-coded ports on the USB-C Audio Adapter adapter and a mobile headset with a single black TRRS (Shared Audio) plug into the center black port of the USB-C Audio Adapter. Both headsets will function simultaneously.

  • Can I use 2 microphones at the same time?

This is not a common application, but the answer is yes. One microphone would need to have a standard 3.5mm two or three pole plug that would plug into the pink port on the USB-C Audio Adapter  The other microphone would need to have a 3.5mm four pole TRRS (Shared Audio) plug such as on our SG-110M Mobile Shotgun Microphone or one of Andrea’s mobile headsets such as the EDU-455M. This microphone would plug into the black port of the USB-C Audio Adapter. Both microphones must supply a mic-in signal.

  • What is the difference between the USB-C Audio Adapter and the EDU-USB?

The EDU-USB has a pink port and green port and can only be used with a computer headset having a pink microphone plug and a green speaker plug. The USB-C Audio Adapter has these same ports but it also has an additional TRRS (Shared Audio) port for use with mobile headsets having a single black plug.  So, the USB-C Audio Adapter will work with both dual plug and single plug headsets. The EDU-USB has a standard USB type connection and the USB-C Audio Adapter uses a USB-C connector with an optional USB-A adapter for computers with standard USB ports.

  • Can I use two headphones at the same time?

Yes, one headphone can be plugged into the green port and the other into the black port of the USB-C Audio Adapter and both headphones will hear the audio.

  • Where do I go to download the drivers for Windows?

The USB-C Audio Adapter is a plug and play device and as such the required drivers are supplied by Windows.

  • Is the USB-C Audio Adapter compatible with Windows 10?

Yes, the USB-C Audio Adapter is a plug and play device and is compatible with Windows 10 and higher.

  • Will the USB-C Audio Adapter work with older computers that do not have a USB-C port?

Yes, simply use the USB-A adapter that is included with the USC-C Audio Adapter

  • How do I request warranty service?

If your device is still not functioning after contacting the Andrea Support Team, you will be asked to submit your proof of purchase via email or fax, verifying that the product was purchased within 1 year. You will then be issued a return material authorization (RMA) number, with complete shipping instructions to return the device to our facility for evaluation. The customer is responsible for the return shipping. A traceable method such as UPS or Fed-X ground is recommended. If the device is found to be defective after evaluation at our facility, a new device will be shipped to you free of charge.
